Compaq and FSMLabs work on Alpha port
FSMLabs begins work on RTLinux for Compaq Alpha
(Socorro, New Mexico, March 1 2000)
FSMLabs announces that it will be developing an Alpha AXP
port of the RTLinux hard realtime extension for Linux for Compaq's
Alpha product line. The agreement with Compaq was finalized in late
February, and work has already begun.
"As realtime systems become more sophisticated, there is a
growing need for powerful computational engines that can run simulations
or analytical programs while providing realtime control. Many of our
high end customers have been requesting RTLinux support for the Alpha
and we are happy to be working with Compaq to provide this support."
said FSMLabs CEO Victor Yodaiken.
RTLinux is an small, fast realtime operating system that follows the
POSIX 1003.13 PE51 profile and runs the Linux operating system as
a preemptible thread. All the services of the Linux kernel and
Linux applications are available to the realtime system, yet realtime
threads and handlers can run with minimal, hardware limited, latencies.
RTLinux currently runs on SMP and uniprocessor IA32
based machines as well as on a variety of PowerPC platforms.
RTLinux is widely used in industry and in research.
FSMLabs is service of VJY Associates LLC, a software development
company started by the original developers of RTLinux
to work on realtime and embedded kernels. The technical
leads for FSMLabs are Victor Yodaiken,
Cort Dougan and Michael Barabanov. Version 2.2 under the
