network resources not working under rtlinux

Hi people
I cannot get to work Netscape nor any other network
program when my computer runs under rt linux. They
work fine under Linux, though.
On booting up the system fails on bringing up the
interface eth0. The linux configuration though is
correct.
I have tried "ifconfig eth0", and it says, "error
fetching interface, Device not found".

Do I have to set up something on the rtl kernel?
