I just wrote a MODBus driver. It's for DOS rather than Linux (the usual
story...), but it contains no code that shouldn't be easy to port. (Actually,
the FIFO code was originally written for Linux user and kernel space, but
compiles and works in DOS real mode as well.)
The only problem is that I'm not sure if I can release it under a useful
license. However, I might have some answers and probably could provide some
code snippets if you run into problems.
