'kmalloc: size too large'

Hi everyone
I get the following error when I try to allocate quite
a lot of memory using kmalloc:
'kmalloc: Size (400000) too large'
I was wondering how could I know the maximum available
memory in kernel space and if it is possible to
reserve more memory at boot time.
