help removeing or closeing a fifo

Hi,

My user program crashed (hence not close the /dev/rft12) with a
segmentation fault. My real time program can not be removed as the
resources (might be /dev/rtf12) is busy. These two program share the
FIFO 12.

I can not restart the user program nor the rtl program. What can I do to
over come this?
