number of fifos

Hi everybody,
could someone please tell me what should I do to change the number of
fifos my system have?
In /dev I have fifos from rtf0 to rtf7, while in
/usr/src/rtlinux-2.0/rtl/fifos/rt_fifo.c I've found:
#define RTF_NO 64
How is this possible?
Should I recompile this single file?Could you please tell me how?
