We proudly announce the first release of
MCA2 - Modular Controller Architecture Version 2 .
Have a look at http://mca2.sf.net/
For the effective development and realization of different robot
prototypes the use of transferable electronic and software components
is a very important aspect. Reusable components with standardized
interfaces lead to extendable architectures. We developed a scalable
hardware architecture and a modular software system that satisfy these
topics.
Beside the reusability of controlling mechanisms for other prototypes
the short training period of new students as well as the uniformly
software appearance has played an important role during the
development of MCA. To fulfill eventual real-time requirements Real
Time Linux has been used.
The whole architecture contains interfaces that can be used via
ethernet. A common graphical user interface has been developed to
simplify the usage of this interface.
The complete controller architecture can be read and displayed
graphically in a tree-like structure. The user is able to navigate
through the hierarchy with only a few mouse-clicks, select certain
modules and act on its parameters.
