[rtl] APIC again

Same with my MMX Pentium. AFAIK, local APICs can be disabled by a signal on a CPU pin, and it seems like most single-cpu motherboard manufacturers do disable in-cpu APICs.
On non-SMP board local APIC is usually disabled. Your test is correct - you don't have local APIC.

Thanks to Michael and Oleg for the, bad, news. I was just playing with the smp release of RTLinux and I got interested by the APIC timers available there, my hope was to use both an 8254 and an APIC timer to make available both the periodic and one shot timings on a single processor.
Now I know that is not possible.
A further, perhaps very silly, question. Must I surrender or can, at least in principle and without too much risk of breaking something, solder/unsolder/jump connections/pins to get to the local APIC?
Ciao, Paolo.
