[rtl] Newbie Questions...

Hi All;

 

I have a couple of question, and I hope someone can help me out before I go insane.  (if its not already to late)

 

System:

 

CPU:    P-200MMX

Mem:    64mb

HD:      (a) - 270mb  (Caldera Ver 1.2 Kernel 2.0.33)    -   rt-linux-0.6 for 2.0.33

            (b) - 2.1gb  (Red Hat 5.0 Kernel 2.0.31)          -  haven't install yet  (not sure which one to get)

                NOTE:  only have one or the other in the machine, not both

CD-ROM:    IDE/ATAPI

Video:    ATI Mach64 chipset

 

LILO has append="mem=63m"  as well...

 

Questions :  (rt-linux-0.6)

 

1.)  I have re-compiled my kernel as to one of the docs I found on the net.  Everything seems to work fine.  I receive "7" when checking to see if the rtl is running.  The compile of 2tasks examples compiles with no errors.  I load the 3 rt process.o files.  Create the FIFO queues, then run "app".

    FIFO1: Frank

    FIFO2: Zappa

 

(this appears for less than 1-2 seconds,  then I receive core dump info and machine reboots itself)

 

Once I managed to freeze the screen and read something about "idle task my not sleep".  Any ideas???

 

2.)  Is there any other simple examples to look at and try out?
