Art,

	You problem sounds familiar, but it's been a while since I installed the
patch. I believe that your problem may be that you don't have a clean
2.0.33 kernel and make sure that /usr/src/linux points to it.  What I
suggest is that you back up your kernel source, and download a clean kernel
from http://www.kernel.org/pub/.  Then try to apply your patch.  You may
find that once you are running the new kernel that you need to update
various other software in your installation which can become very involved
(I started with a some what dated RedHat linux installation and it became
very involved.)
