Hi Jake, There's wonderful O'Reilly book called "Linux Device Drivers"
by Allessandro Rubini that helped me immensely. I got it at www.bookpool.com
and saved 30% off list...There's also the Linux Kernel Hackers Guide at
http://www.redhat.com:8080/HyperNews/get/khg.html that has a lot of other 
pointers.
