Hello,

This is a regular weekly updates for the Real Time Linux documentation
list.
	The current issues are:
	1. Olga Mill's attempt to geta permssion from the Linux
Journal to republish Alessandro Rubini's articles on the Rt
web site may generate some interesting discussion on this list.
Please, read the forwarded mail. Linux Journal has not responded
on my inqires yet.

Greetings:

I wonder if the rights Mr. Rubini sold to TLJ were the usual rights to
"first publication" -- if so, and TLJ has already published the
material, they no longer have any control over the author's use of the
material. They probably retain the right to republication in TLJ, at
least under certain conditions, but Mr. Rubini would remain free to do
with the material as he pleases.

Exclusive rights pay more to the author, but most periodical publishers
don't consider it good business to pay for more than first publication,
after which the value of the material decreases dramatically.

It might be worth looking into, especially if TLJ is uncooperative.

In any event, good luck! I'd love to have ready access to the articles.
Oh, and thanks for the decision to maintain the documentation for the
older revisions of RTL, as well as all of your RTL documentation effort
in general!
