[rtl] re: Maruti and Linux.

Ross, 

As of now, MARUTI and RT linux are not related at all. After we came
across RTLinux, there was some thought on implementing the ideas used in
the RTlinux project (particularly the softinterrupts), and implementing
another realtime version of linux, that would have MARUTI as 
its realtime microkernel. 

For supporting hard realtime constraints, MARUTI has a calendar based
scheduler (unlike priorities in the standard rtlinux). If we create a
linux running on MARUTI, we would have an RT operating system that has the
advantages of being interactive (maruti is not) and yet provide accurate
temporal guarantees for realtime tasks.

However, the task is obviously much easier said that done. We would
definitely advertize our progress once we have something noteworthy for
people to see :).
