[rtl] RE: rtl and robots
I think that there are more people using RTL for robotics than anyone
thinks. I am among them. I am working on a robot that uses an FPGA to
handle low-level sensor polling, timing generation, and motor control.
The RTL module uses a handshaking protocol over the printer port to copy
the data to/from the registers in the FPGA into shared memory where the
user-space higer-level stuff picks it up. RTL provides an efficient,
atomic, periodic update of the "sensor ensemble" structures.
PS: I actually think that a usenet newsgroup just for RTL/Robot people
would be popular.
Have a nice day.
