Hello,
I am currently doing preliminary work on an embedded data acquisition module. I intend to use RTLinux, but am wondering as to the minimum space in which it can be installed - also I am wondering about some functionality.
The planned system will be:
AMD Elan SC400 processor (a 486 with onboard PCMCIA support and other stuff)
8 MB ram
2 MB flash
Ethernet adapter - Cirrus Crystal LAN (likely) - this has standard Linux support, I don't think it will be a problem
2 PC Cards:
definately a National Instruments DAQ card - an 'E-series' DAQ card, but possibly also the DAQCard-1200. I am aware of drivers for the E-series boards (COMEDI and others). These are written for the ISA or PCI bus - anyone have experience using PCMCIA?
possibly a flash card for additional storage (the 2 MB onboard flash is pretty small).
Any thoughts?
