[rtl] Hardware Advise
I am using Rt Linux (2.0.36 kernel) on multiple machines running on a
common clock. This is a distributed control system for the CHARA Array,
an array of six 1m optical telescopes on Mount Wilson. I have a modified
version of the scheduler working on the external clock signal so each
machine can run jobs synchronously with all other machines. My only
other option was VxWorks, which I didn't want to pay for. I just love
RT-Linux, thanks for the effort.
I have two hardware related questions:
1. I need to send data to a Cyclades multiple serial port board. When I
do this through a FIFO and the kernel it is too slow. Has anyone ported
the cyclades driver to RT? (probably not but it's worth a try....)
2. More importantly and timely: I need to have four channels of 16 bit
ADC in one machine for interfacing with some infrared detectors. I will
be sampling at 1 Ms. Does anyone know of a device that isn't too hard to
interface to RT or any advice in general?
Thanks in advance,
Theo
